Chapter Programs

Since its founding in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has clearly distinguished itself as a public service organization that boldly confronts the challenges of African Americans and, hence, all Americans. Over the years, a wide range of programs addressing education, health, international development, and strengthening of the African American family have evolved. In realizing its mission, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. provides an extensive array of public service initiatives through its Five-Point Program Thrust:

Awarding the Carrie Hill Tatum Memorial Scholarship to college-bound high school seniors has been a primary project for the chapter. Other educational activities include Little Miss Jabberwock, the Black History Bowl, the Annual Spelling Bee, and the Delta Academy and G.E.M.S. (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) Programs. Our community-wide activities include support for the Thurman Brisben Homeless Shelter, Loisann's Hope House Trees of Hope, Women's Forum, Community Baby Shower, Love Thy Neighbor, Habitat for Humanity, Unity Festival, Social Services Thanksgiving Baskets, Young Men's Connection and Partnership for Academic Excellence. These programs are supported by proceeds received from our signature event held annually, the Red and White Gala, our signature event held in February.
