1. The Delta variant is more contagious
2. Some data suggest the Delta variant might cause more severe illness than previous strains in unvaccinated persons
3. Unvaccinated people remain the greatest concern
4. Fully vaccinated people with Delta variant breakthrough infections can spread the virus to others. However, vaccinated people appear to be infectious for a shorter period

Carrie Hill Tatum Memorial Scholarship
Thank you for your interest in applying for the Carrie Hill Tatum Memorial Scholarship. Each year, the Fredericksburg Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our service area. If you attend high school in the City of Fredericksburg or the surrounding counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, or Stafford, you are eligible to apply for one of ten (10) scholarships. Recipients will be awarded a minimum of $1,000, not to exceed $1,500.

Please be sure to submit ALL of the following documents for consideration:

A completed and signed application. Electronic signatures will NOT be accepted.

A one-page, double-spaced essay responding to the prompt listed in the application.

A list of extra-curricular, scholastic, and community activities you've been involved in throughout high school.

A list of any recent extra-curricular and scholastic accomplishments.

An official transcript as outlined in the application requirements.

Copies of your SAT and/or ACT scores

Two Letters of Recommendation on official school letterhead (one from an academic teacher and one from a school official)

Following application reviews, we will schedule MANDATORY interviews before final selections occur.
APPLICATIONS POSTMARKED AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
The United States Postal Service recently implemented changes to the postmark process. With this in mind, we encourage you to treat all components of your application as time-sensitive documents to avoid disqualification for late submission. We highly recommend that you either mail your packet several days before the deadline, visit your local post office and request a hand-stamped "manual postmark" on the mailing date, or use certified mail.
